Have you ever googled “how to get to sleep?” or “what is the best thing to help me fall asleep?” Well, you are not alone. Getting to sleep can be really hard and this is especially true at the moment when everything is certainly rather stressful (we are going through a pandemic for one thing!)! I’ve had problems sleeping for some time now and during my own google searching for insomnia treatment, I came across CBD. CBD is one of the naturally occurring cannabinoids found in hemp and marjiuana. However, it does not get you high (that’s it’s cousin THC). Instead CBD is believed to have a range of beneficial health effects such as helping with anxiety, pain relief and, most importantly for me, sleep! I did some more research into CBD and found out that vaping CBD was the most effective way of taking CBD. So, in this post, I want to share with you what I learnt as a newbie to vaping CBD in particular, with so many vape pens for sale, I wanted to tell you what I think is the best vape pen starter kit to get you going!
There are many ways to take CBD – you can drop some CBD oil drops straight under your tongue, munch on a CBD edible sweet treat or savoury snack, or puff away on a CBD vaping device – it’s really up to you which method you’d prefer. However, how fast the CBD works will differ depending on what format you choose. CBD edibles for example tend to be a bit weaker (less concentrated) and will also take a bit longer for the effects to be felt in your body. This is because, since the CBD is infused or mixed into the edible, it will need to pass through your digestive system before going into your bloodstream. Vaping CBD, on the other hand, is much faster acting since it absorbs much quicker into your bloodstream via your lungs due to its high surface area and good blood flow. This means it only takes a few minutes to feel the CBD which is perfect for those who don’t want to wait around (like myself).
I had never vaped before and so didn’t know where to begin. As I mentioned, there are so many different vape pens for sale – a “cannabis” vape pen, a 510 thread device, a reusable vape pen, one that works with a pod or cartridge – it’s hard to know where to begin. Moreover, there is a slight fear you may be buying something illegal when you see it is called a “cannabis” vape pen. But, it’s important to remember that CBD is derived from two primary species of the cannabis plant – hemp and marijuana – but in the UK, due to our regulation, most CBD products are more commonly derived from hemp plants as they contain less than 0.3% of THC and a higher concentration of CBD. So a cannabis vape pen in the UK refers to a vape pen that is able to heat up thicker extract oils derived from hemp.
Let me explain this last point, there are two main types of CBD vape liquid you can vape – CBD vape oils and CBD e liquids. CBD vape oils (which is what I mean when I refer to hemp extract oils) are much stronger (usually 55-70% CBD) than CBD e liquids (usually 5 – 10%) as they are undiluted by any other liquids such as PG, VG and MCT and so are just the pure distillate CBD oil. Given this, they require a much more powerful vape device to heat them up as the CBD vape oil is much thicker, this is what is often referred to as a cannabis vape pen.
CBD e liquids, on the other hand, are similar to what you would vape if you regularly vape. They are made from a base liquid mixture of VG and PG (the ratio of which will determine the type of vape experience you have), but blended in with hemp extract (CBD) rather than nicotine or vape flavouring. Consequently, you can use the same device you would if you are vape non-CBD e liquids. If this is the case and you want to try vaping CBD (but something a bit weaker / similar to what you already vape) I’d suggest using your existing vaping device and filling up your tank with a CBD e liquid.
I personally prefer vaping the more concentrated CBD vape oils as they are the “healthiest” way to vape CBD given they are the most pure and also require less puffs per sitting. This means I had to look for more of a cannabis vape pen in the UK which meant I couldn’t really go for a disposable vape pen starter kit as they tend to only come with a CBD e liquid cartridge attached. I was worried as I assumed this meant I’d have to break the bank and fork out for some expensive device but then I found a totally affordable, great quality vape pen for sale – the Paso vape pen. And, get this, it works for both CBD e liquids and CBD vape oils so if you are undecided and want to try to see which CBD vape liquid is best for you – I’d strongly suggest this as then you can chop and change between either lighter CBD e liquids or stronger CBD vape oils. The Paso vape pen is under £20 and you can pair it with either their 65% CBD vape oil cartridges or their 10% CBD e liquid cartridges to make it the perfect vape pen starter kit for you!
